The Perfect Beginner Ski Tour in Flachau to the Lackenalm
Many believe that ski touring is only for athletic pros who can effortlessly glide through deep snow.
We think it can be, above all, one thing: a really nice opportunity to enjoy the day in nature. And that also as a beginner. It's only important to choose a route that is fun, not too demanding, and still offers a bit of summit happiness.
For everyone planning their first ski tour of the year or simply wanting to ease into it, we reveal our favorite route for beginners in the Flachau region: the ascent to the Lackenalm.
The starting point of the beginner tour is the parking lot about 4 km away at the Gasthof Sattelbauer. The drive is possible with an SUV in good weather conditions; alternatively, you can book a taxi through our reception.
From the parking lot, you relaxingly make your way through the snowy forest, following the hiking trail, slightly uphill. After about 45 minutes, you reach the Lackenalm. A perfect spot to catch your breath, enjoy the panorama, and take the first look at the summit. For beginners, this is where it ends. The descent via the forest road is ideal to try out your first turns.
Those with a bit more experience can continue for about an hour to ascend to the Lackenkogel (2,013 m). It only gets steeper in the upper section; the last slope with shrubs requires technique and attention.
