Tip for the perfect ski day from Lena & Joseph
Skiing is simply part of life for us in Flachau. We grew up here, surrounded by slopes, lifts, and huts, and yet every ski day still feels special.
Maybe because we love seeing our home through the eyes of our guests. Or because for us, there's nothing better than making the first turns on freshly groomed slopes on a clear winter morning.
As locals, we naturally have our routines, favorite spots, and a few tips that we are happy to share with you.
For us, skiing means much more than just collecting piste kilometers. It's mainly about enjoyment, both on and off the slopes.
The perfect ski day starts early, but relaxed: Nothing works for us without a good breakfast. Joseph starts the day classically with an espresso and a poppy seed roll topped with ham and horseradish. Lena gets a fried egg from the egg station and puts it in a fresh cheese roll with sesame.
Well fortified, we pick up the ski passes at the reception and walk to the ski bus at the ski bus stop just 200 m away. Although the lift starts practically right outside our front door, we sometimes consciously choose a different starting point. Variety is a must.
Perhaps our favorite route will inspire you for your next ski day.

Starting Point: Highport Flachauwinkl - Timing is Everything
If it were up to Lena, we would take the first mountain lift and ski our first lines in the Zauchensee ski area as early as nine o'clock. While the slopes become more crowded around eleven o'clock, we are already thinking about our first break.
Our tip: the Burgstallhütte. This is where the locals meet, and we replenish our energy with a "O’Power-Suppentopf" and a shot from Franz.
After that, we continue freshly motivated: With the ski bus, we switch sides of the road and thus into the Flachauwinkl/Kleinarl ski area. From there, the "Panorama Link" takes us directly back to Flachau.
This gondola ride is among our favorites in the whole country: The view all the way to the Großglockner amazes us every time.

The perfect ending to a ski day in Flachau
To conclude, for us, a glass of Prosecco at the Lisa Alm is simply part of it. Here, you meet familiar faces, enjoy the last rays of sunshine, and wrap up the ski day in the best of spirits.
And then? For us as hosts, it goes back to everyday life. Or, on free days, comfortably to the sofa. But we recommend you a Saunagang, so that the ski legs are fit again for new adventures tomorrow.
