Tobogganing with a break at the restaurant Brennhütten
A fun sledging run is just as much a part of winter for us as skiing and ski touring.
Maybe because we grew up with such evenings. A cozy ascent, a warm hut, and afterwards a (sometimes competitive) ride down into the valley.
The Brennhütten is exactly the kind of place we associate with fun sledging adventures like this and that we recommend to anyone who wants to experience Flachau as we know and love it.
If you want to make it easy, you can conveniently reach the hut and the starting point of the sledging track by taxi. However, we recommend the walking path through the forest up. Because after the ascent, the break is twice as much fun.
In about an hour you can walk up the well-prepared path from Hotel loj. No worries, no athletic peak performance is needed for this route, it is easily doable for everyone.
Upon arrival at the top, one of the most original huts in the region awaits, run by Norbert senior and junior. The fireplace crackles, the smell of soup and Kaiserschmarrn fills the air, and you immediately feel this sense of "Let’s stay here a little longer."

Illuminated Sledging Track
After the stop at the restaurant, things get really fun: On the 1.9 kilometer long, illuminated sledging track, it's a rapid descent into the valley. You can rent sleds right on site. Good footwear is important; we also recommend wearing a helmet and ski goggles for the professional look - and of course for safety.
Once you reach the bottom, your cheeks are warm, your hands are cold, and the smiles are usually quite wide. The only question that remains is: Do we go back up one more time or call it a day?
